Bennie Maupin plays on Miles' 1970 album Bitches Brew and joins Herbie Hancock's funk-fusion band Mwandishi the same year.
Wayne Shorter & Joe Zawinul play on Miles' 1969's In a Silent Way and 1970's Bitches Brew. They form the fusion band Weather Report in 1971.
John McLaughlin and drummer Billy Cobham play on Miles' 1971 album Jack Johnson. They form the band the Mahavishnu Orchestra later that year.
Chick Corea and Lennie White plays on Miles' 1970 album Bitches Brew then form the fusion band Return to Forever. Guitarist Al DiMeola joins RTF in 1973.
In 1981 Al DiMeola joins McLaughlin, DiMeola, and guitarist Paco de Lucia in the Guitar Trio.
All four of these groups were hugely successful.
